HIGH SCHOOL
GIRLS AND BOYS
VARSITY LACROSSE GAMES
Please go out and support our local high school lacrosse teams!
Bloomington lacrosse fans are fortunate to have 2 great high schools to watch and support.
That gives us 4 varsity teams to cheer on!
The kids won’t play BYLA lacrosse forever. They will move up to high school sooner than you think. Pass it forward and support the players (many are BYLA alumni) who are there now, and hopefully when your child is in high school the same support will be given back. Also, watching lacrosse at higher levels is a GREAT way to learn more about the sport, and will help make your child a better player. So please support boys and girls lacrosse at both Jefferson and Kennedy!

posted 04/07/2013 Girls Families--
We have a schedule for practices for all BYLA girl players who are not currently playing on the 7/8 girls spring team or a high school team. I have listed the schedule at the end of this email. This practice schedule is for girl players on our 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 teams—all levels. We will hold combined team practices (CTP) for several weeks until the rest of our coaching staff is freed up from high school and college coaching and playing duties. Then we will split into teams for team practices.
Here are some important things to remember regarding CTP practices:
- CTP practices are not optional. They are mandatory practices just as they will be when we split into individual teams. If you have an unavoidable conflict we will have a reporting system in place for you to let us know that. We are working on that system currently and will share the process with you soon.
- New players who attended one of our free recruiting clinics this winter and signed up to play will receive their free stick at the first CTP practice attended.
- Dress your player accordingly. It has been a very chilly, wet spring. Please have your player dress in layers so she can be prepared for the ever-changing Minnesota weather.
- Players should come to every practice with their stick, goggles, a mouth guard, cleats, a practice pinnie, and a water bottle.
- Don’t worry if you have a new player who does not have a practice pinnie yet. If needed, we will have extras at practices. She will receive a practice pinnie and other BYLA uniform gear later in May from her team manager.
- Players should be on the field ready to play by 6:00. Please plan on getting to the field early enough to assure this happens. 15 minutes early is a good guide.
- Players must be picked up promptly after practice is over. Our coaches have families and obligations of their own. Please don’t waste their time.
- If you plan to stay and watch practices, Westwood does not have seating or bleachers of any kind, so bring chairs and blankets.
- If the weather is questionable or there has been a lot of moisture on the fields, please check emails and texts to see any updates regarding cancellations, etc. We will make every effort to inform you by 4:00 pm, but sometimes conditions are beyond our control and we will be forced to make last minute adjustments.
- Please go to your account on the BYLA site to check to make sure your contact information is correct and that you’ve signed up for texts if you want to do so. Click on the “Edit My Account” tab on the vertical menu on the BYLA home page. If you’ve forgotten your password, the system will help you out.
- Again, if your player is currently on the 7/8 girls spring team or a high school team, she is exempt from CTP practices as those teams have their own practice/game schedules.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I’m always here to help.
We are so excited for the summer season! . . . Now if the weather would just cooperate!!! J

Bloomington Youth Lacrosse Association
BYLA GIRLS CTP SCHEDULE

Mon 4-29
Wed 5-1
Mon 5-6
Wed 5-8
Wed 5-15
Thurs 5-16
Mon 5-20*
Thurs 5-23*
Wed 5-29*
Thurs 5-30*
*We may be split into teams by these last four practices, depending on the playoff success of our 2 high school teams. Just please be aware of the fact that your player’s practice schedule may change for the last 2 weeks of CTP practices.
(We realize some of the practices are on Wednesdays, a night which some players may have religion classes. Field availability and coaches’ schedules gave us little flexibility in that regard.)
